Green Valley Recycling

There are two Lions clubs in Green Valley and they're doing their part of keep their community green by running one of the largest recycling operations in Southern Arizona.

The all-volunteer staff from the Lions groups and other members of the community operate the Green Valley Lions Recycle Center which was established in 1977 and is open from Monday to Saturday from 8:30 to 11:30 am. Most of the materials received are newspapers and aluminum cans but the facility also accepts eyeglasses, hearing aids and ink cartridges.

The funds raised from the recycled materials are then distributed to local organizations such as Green Valley Food Bank, Green Valley Assistance Services and the Joyner-Green Valley Branch Library. In the past five years, the volunteers have raised and donated more than $325,000 from the newspapers and cans.
